The Colours The most noticeable characteristic of water-colours is
their glazing feature. Even when heavily diluted, genuine watercolours
retain their colour-intensity and brilliance. Crimson, for example, is
regarded as one of the traditional water-colours which is particularily
suited to the most delicate brush-work and also retains its
brilliancedespite being diluted.
The classic water-colour technique is characterised by leaving areas of the painting surface unpainted. Marder abd Jax-Hair brushes are recommended for water-colour painting.
Water-colour paper is mainly used as it is available in a range of diffently structured surfaces.
